Jesús Torres: The Boxing Match

The Boxing Match (Puños de Harina) is a one-man stage play relating two stories in parallel, each scene representing a round in a boxing match. The first story is about Johann Trollmann Rukeli, a gypsy boxer murdered during the Holocaust; the second story is about Saul, a young Gypsy boxer trying to survive in the present day as a gay man.

First presented at the John Lyons Theatre in Covent Garden, as part of the Festival of Spanish Theatre in London (Festelón) in 2019, the play was recently designated ‘Best Show’ by the prestigious FOC Cultura con Orgullo 2020.
